A Tuscan retreat with Karen and Kacie (mother-daughter) in October offers you a place to decompress, to leave the bustle of life behind and to breathe in the beauty that surrounds you. October brings the flavors of fall and the harvest of traditional Tuscan favorites from chestnuts to truffles. You can wind your way through the quintessential cobblestone village of Lucca or head for a hike in the stunning Cinque Terre.
Tuscany’s relaxed pace permits you to reconnect with your inner passions, to recover, to meet new friends and to just be. With the healing powers of yoga and Pilates, this retreat will reinvigorate your mind and body and encourage you to explore your creativity to re-discovering your unique journey towards wholeness.
Who We Are:
Karen and Kacie, a mother-daughter team, have given many health, wellness, and creative workshops together. From partner yoga to African infused movement and dance, to creative writing and theatre classes.
Karen is a fully certified yoga instructor and worked as a registered nurse before turning to yoga and the arts; she holds an MFA in Creative Writing and a 500 hour yoga certification.
With multiple Pilates and wellness certifications under her belt, including BALANCED BODY, NAFTA, ACE and CPR, Kacie teaches Pilates and dance in New York City. Kacie works as Pilate’s teacher, professional dancer, actor, and writer; she has a BFA in Comparative Literature and dance from The American University Of Paris, France.
Along with their passion for well-being and movement, Karen and Kacie are accomplished writers and love to offer others the opportunity to find their inner voice through the written word.
Who Can Come On This Retreat:
Everyone! This retreat is for all levels whether you have been doing yoga and Pilates for years or just stepped on your mat for the first time, all are welcome to discover, to unplug, and to be one with nature. If you have an injury your nursing, bring it along and give it some tender Italian care, your body will thank you for it!
Karen and Kacie both deal with students that have physical challenges and limitations, and enjoy finding ways to modify poses. Through the breath and the sweet air of Tuscany, anything is possible. Karen has been to Italy several times and fell in love with everything Italian, especially as her grandfather was born in Napoli. Kacie, who lived in Paris for two years is moving back in June as the European slower paced lifestyle appeals to her calm sensibilities.
What To Expect:
To prepare you for the day, we will offer a morning meditation and yoga vinyasa class (modifications always provided) that will leave you soaring with energy. Enjoy breakfast, and perhaps a nature walk around the area or an optional excursion.
The early evenings we’ll offer yoga and Pilates as well as other mind-body workshops such as Pilates, African dance for beginners, and creative movement classes to learn how to relieve stress, get in tune with your inner child and have fun! You will be in a gorgeous farmhouse, fed mouthwatering organic meals, sleep in rooms filled with Tuscan style decor, have access to a saltwater pool, a Turkish sauna and have the opportunity to treat yourself to a healing massage.

An informal bike and walking tour of Lucca with a local guide
A scenic walk to a local bio-dynamic winery for a tour and tasting
A night enjoying the Puccini Opera in Lucca before dinner.
Other Optional Excursions
There will also be plenty of time to join other optional excursions such as a hike through the seaside villages of the rugged Riviera coastline of the Cinque Terre region or an evening in the thriving artist village of Pietrasanta.
